PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Terminal 2 Boarding Area D renovation and expansion project included about 500,000 square foot conversion of the international terminal into a 640,000 square foot 14-gate domestic terminal. This also included a taxiway, concrete apron, relocation and installation of utilities, new passenger loading bridges with aircraft support systems, baggage handling systems with EDS, mezzanine level access to the APM system, and mechanical and electrical upgrades. Terminal 2 was designed and registered for LEED-certified Silver rating. This terminal building has 14 new aircraft gates, about 587,000 square feet upon completion, allowing about 32,000 square feet for food and beverage, 13,000 square feet for retail facilities,  and two areas of about 500 square feet for children's play rooms. The telecommunication infrastructure was developed in coordination with all stakeholders of each Special System, including SFO AVSEC, SFO ITT, SFO FOM, SFO Communications Center, TSA, SFPD, Air Carriers, and tenants.
